This FAQ http://nagiosplugins.org/faq/compile/configure_appears_to_hang refers to a --disable-redhat-pthread option to configure to disable the pthread test entirely, but configure's help output does not mention this option and as far as I can tell from the source the option does not have any effect.

Version used for verification: nagios-plugins-HEAD.tar.gz today at 5 PM CEST -> nagios-plugins-1.4.14-69-gfe1c
