Initial Comment:
As described partially in http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1090549&group_id=29880&atid=397597, the check_dhcp plugin fails when it's executed in the same server who runs DHCP monitored.

Is it possible to make the script able to monitor a DHCP server even if it is running on the same host that Nagios process ?

Yes, it's possible, but it requires some not quite trivial code changes. 
I for one cannot promise I'll get round to it anytime soon. Patches welcome

For the moment, the only option is to check the DHCP server remotely
(which IMO makes sense anyway).

I'll close this item as it effectively duplicates #1090549.
