its nice to see you did some work an want to share it. But you are
reinventing the wheel. Nagios-plugins comes with check_by_ssh which does
what you want. You also might also find "ssh framework"
(http://neuntoeter.homelinux.org/wiki/index.php/Ssh_framework) helpful
