Will need to go back to my notes, I borrowed these from a previous patch
set that I inherited and we do not use this feature at present, so can't
be sure they work properly or even do what they are supposed to do.
Really doing housekeeping here as we have had to repatch these for a
number of plugin releases without using them.
Will get back to you later on this one.
